Great ideas don’t make great apps

I have a few ideas for mobile applications (who doesn’t, right?).

I’ve been doing some research into how to get an app built: what are the phases, what are the elements, how do you find the right people to pay and most importantly how much does it cost?

I’ve even posted an expression of interest on Elance to test the waters a bit.

Then I came across this article on the Shifty Emails blog:

Writing a book, is much like writing an app, the idea is only the first 1% of what is required.

[…]You need to be realistic, and realise that the App Store is not a gold mine, it’s a market place.

I better do some more planning.
